You want someone to capture those important moments.  Moments you and your spouse experienced, but also those behind-the-scene moments you missed.  You want someone who cares about your day as much as you do.

When I married in June 2003 I wound up with two photographers.  One who was well versed in wedding photography, but heavily dependent upon posed shots.  The other, new to wedding photography, but innovative enough to capture the personality of us as bride and groom.  My style combines the two.

The key to wedding photography is to find someone who can create those photos you want, someone who understands your personality and captures the intricate details of your day.

My dad was always the photographer in our family.  With a background in computer programming, he really enjoyed the technical aspect of photography.  My older sister and I were two of his favorite subjects.  He also took little field trips to remote areas of Missouri to capture the fall colors.  Looking back, I really learned a lot from his work and his "eye" for getting that perfect photograph.  He taught me a lot.

My dad passed away in November 2001, two months after I became engaged.  In some ways I feel as if I picked up where he left off.  With ten years of business experience and a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, I had developed the skills to start my own business.  After my wedding in June 2003, I spent the next couple of years continuing my education - in photography.  I strived to take as many classes as I could, and worked with other photographers to explore the technical and creative intricacies of the art.   I've been shooting ever since.
